Bamboo Panels - S2S

Let’s take a minute to appreciate the design of bamboo panels. There’s truly nothing that can compare to the durability, style, and sustainability of bamboo, and these select grade panel achieve it all. Although bamboo is not wood but grass in the eyes of woodworker, you use bamboo as if they are just another species of wood. 

dassoXTR Fused Bamboo Panel is to be considered as solid panel that comes slightly oversized and unfinished, so they can be sanded and reworked on to show the beauty of its grain.  The material looks like wood, feels like wood and cuts like wood. They are generally S2S (Smooth 2 Side) without side treatment, though generally the sides are clean cut thus giving a true square edge on all sides.  The materials are sanded on the surface to P180 grit sandpaper just like all plywood and MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard).  Though designed specifically for exterior use, Fused Bamboo can be used for interior space. And like all sheet good panels, select your surface as facial carefully.  Panels come with only one surface as AA grade and the other surface as CC grade. 

When you design with Fused Bamboo® product, always assume you are working with natural solid tropical wood.  dassoXTR Fused Bamboo reacts like wood and/or bamboo except it is stronger, durable, more stable and super in fire resistance.  When working on Bamboo Panel; cuts, mills, glues and coats them as if you would do on a piece of hardwood (Ipe, Cumaru, Redwood or Cedar).  Use the same millwork tools and woodworking techniques you learn in wood technical schools.   A common tungsten carbide saw blade will be able to provide a clean cut on dassoXTR bamboo panel, though diamond tip tooling would last even longer.  The material itself is Class A Fire-rated, dimensionally stable, hard and durable, zero VOC and no leaching.  This makes the product well suited to be profile into bamboo wall panels. It’s also a popular interior design material choice.

The Bamboo Panel comes design in 2 different natural colors and as always, the lighter Epic unfinished panels could be stained or painted over much easier than the Classic unfinished.  You may choose your finishes type from penetrating oil, transparent stains or semi-transparent polyurethane and solid color polyurethane.   The Fused Bamboo® colors are throughout the thickness and are not skin deep. Always remember to follow coatings manufacturer application manual to get the best effect of finishes.  As with wood, Fused Bamboo® would rich up in color when a layer of coatings - Oil, Wax or Polyurethane - is applied to its surface.  Do not be surprised when a finished piece looks different in colors to an unfinished bare Fused Bamboo®.

Both Classic and Epic Fused Bamboo panels come oversized for trimming in three different thickness: 3/4" (20MM), 1-3/16”(30MM) and 1-1/2" (40MM).

Preprimed Bamboo

dassoXTR comes in 2 standard pre-oiled colors, Espresso and Cognac.

Espresso color is the result of taking Classic Unfinished boards, stained with WOCA Walnut penetrating oil.  This leaves the boards rich and dark with a tight band of natural color range desire by most unique audience.

Cognac color on the other hand, is a result of staining Epic Unfinished boards with a custom blend of WOCA penetrating oil.  We know the two color option may not be within your choice of colors.  Hence, we now stock unfinished materials in both Classic and Epic so you could choose to custom design your own colors.

Bare Bamboo - Add Your Personal Touch

We know that life is never one size fits all.  That's why we stock unfinished products of both of our popular Fused Bamboo - Classic and Epic.

Classic Unfinished panels in itself is a darker material, hence it would be much harder to stain them to a lighter color.  This however could be achieved by using opac or semi-opac coatings.

Epic Unfinished panels on the other hands are neutral in color, so you would have much success in staining the planks to your choice of custom color.
