Deck Materials Calculator
Intro
This calculator is designed to help you estimate your materials need. It works the same regardless of your undertaking if you are estimating for decking materials, or if you are estimating for other dassoXTR Fused Bamboo products like siding, flooring or shiplap soffit. For reseller with a login account, use the deck calculator after you have login. The calculator will also act as a cost calculator once you login. You will be able to find out the unit cost of each item, deck board sizes, price per board, deck cost, as well as the total cost of all the materials listed for the installation job.
The calculator takes your coverage dimensions, then converts it to square feet coverage of your new add-on space. This estimates for you the number of decking material boards needed to cover that area. The calculator will also convert the pieces into the basic selling unit of the dassoXTR materials. If you have your joist spacing, your result will include the types, and the count accessories, down to the number of screws you needed.
Preparation
Let's take a deck project as an example with these steps:
1. Start your assignment by first drawing up a plan. The plan can be a simple sketch on a napkin. Consider the deck dimensions, length and width. This will give you the total square footage of deck flooring you need.
2. Settle on the shape of your deck based on the space you have. Many deck shapes are either rectangular, square or combination of several rectangular and square. Once you have decided on your deck's length, you now considers your joist spacing, the standard is 16” on center though 12” or 24” on center is possible with dassoXTR deck boards. The spacing will help you to estimate the number of screws and additional materials you will need.
3. Then determine the type of deck boards you like, whether it is plastic composite or a natural deck board like dassoXTR. Many deck boards are not end-matched, which does not support modular installation. The composite decking might have huge color choices, but natural material is best for all season visually and it does add value to your property.
