RainClad Siding Project
dassoXTR Fused Bamboo RainClad® Shiplap Siding can be installed vertically or horizontally. Installation starts at the base with your choice of drip cap and/or baseboard. Please ensure your based line is leveled before you start installing the shiplap siding. Recheck leveling every 5 to 8 rows, or whenever you are in doubt.
Choose sheathing or batten clip that complies with your local building codes. Use 1/2" plywood strips as battens with batten clip to create 3/4" barrier space behind the RainClad. The air gap acts as heat barrier to prevent heat from traveling into your home from direct contact.
You can opt to use various aluminum strips listed on Installation Accessories page or available in the market as trim. Be sure you know how the trim pieces are used. dassoXTR lumber can be routed to be used as your trim pieces as well depending on your choice of looks.
Our diagram below provides 3 options to create the building corner either by a) miter the planks to join at 45 degree or 90 degree without trim pieces; b) use dassoXTR Bamboo Lumber to create L trim piece as a cap; or c) install with aluminum corner trims for a modern and clean look. Every row needs to have on minimum a screw and plugs to hold the row in-placed.
For vertical plank installation, every 4th planks need to be secured with at least two screws and plugs. End the installation with top trim piece or cap board. Refer to RainClad Installation Manual for more information.
Browse through our Project Gallery page for ideas and how other installation are completed.
