Though all bamboo materials are engineered, some are still known in the marketplace as solid bamboo floors. This Outdoor Bamboo Flooring is, likewise, considered as solid bamboo flooring. It is an improvement based on the bamboo strand as basic building block. We take the strand woven bamboo and further treat it with our proprietary process to allow the material to withstand exterior elements. As a result, the engineered material can withstand the harsh outside elements and add beauty to your home or business. We then profile the materials for use as floors, decking, siding and etc.
Bamboo is grass and hence it is sustainable. It differs from wood in the sense that majority of wood grows in a log form. You obtain wood lumber by cutting it into sizes. Whereas all bamboo comes from culms that are hollow in the core. Bamboo material comes to form by continuously joining the basic building blocks either from strip, strand or unfurled sheet form. Hence, all bamboo materials are engineered. However, if the bamboo pieces are joined with all parallel grain, the material is known in the marketplace as solid. In this sense, Fused Bamboo Floors is "Solid".

Call it porch, veranda, balcony or even just solid tongue and groove fused bamboo flooring plank. This profile can replace any hardwood and engineered wood floor. The only requirement is preferably; you situate a roof over the porch flooring. This tongue and groove outdoor solid bamboo flooring differs from decking or shiplap planks because it is installed without any gaps between each row of plank. Every engineered bamboo flooring plank connects to the other with tongue and groove on all side just like a standard red oak flooring. The fused bamboo is extremely dimension stable, will not warp or buckle, zero VOC and no leaching. It is waterproof and fire resistance. The materials passed both Class A Fire Rating as well as WUI compliance as a deck. This profile is designed to installed just like the standard solid red wood floor planks with a floor nailer using 18 gauge 1-3/4” cleats; or by glue-down with polyurethane glue or exterior grade liquid nails.
Hardwood add value to properties; however, majority fo hardwood is not suitable for exposed outdoor use. This trend is true for all outdoor applications including hardwood flooring. In the engineered hardwood flooring products marketplace, majority of engineered hardwood flooring is not suitable for outdoors use. Laminate flooring is especially vulnerable to the outdoor elements. Only very limited species of hardwood could withstand the extreme conditions of exposed outdoors like Ipe. Unfortunately, hardwood species like Ipe is already listed in CITES.
The Fused Bamboo Flooring for porch comes in 2 colors and as always, the lighter Epic Cognac color and its unfinished can be stained or painted over in semi-transparent polyurethane or opac color polyurethane. The fused bamboo flooring colors are throughout the thickness and are not skin deep. Fused Bamboo Flooring can be installed below grade, on-grade or above grade. You can install them with the common nail-down or glue down installation method. You can sand this bamboo flooring 3 to 4 times just like solid wood flooring. Always remember to follow coatings manufacturer application manual to get the best effect of finishes. This engineered "solid" bamboo flooring will work with any of the 5 commonly use trim pieces use in the solid flooring installation namely, stair thread, reducer, variable threshold, T-molding and quarter round.
